Alejandro Gutierrez Obituary (1953 - 2014)

We are saddened to announce the passing of our husband and father Alejandro Gutierrez. Dad passed away January 17, 2014 at Intermountain Medical Center from a devastating stroke at the age of 60 with his wife Haiying and his son Long by his side. Alejandro was born in Mexico City on January 21, 1953. He moved to Utah in 1998 to provide a better opportunity for Long and his swimming career. He was preceded in death by his parents Vicente and Yolanda Gutierrez and his oldest brother, Jesus. He is survived by his wife Haiying, brothers, Sergio, Jorge, Javier and children Karla, Claudio and Long. Much of Long's success in the pool was because of Alejandro's and Haiying's support. Alejandro's "Go Long Go!" will never be forgotten. Dad will be cremated. Please join us for a visitation on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 6:00-8:00pm at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Funeral Home, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway South Jordan, Utah 84095. At the conclusion of the visitation, please share your favorite memory of Big Al.
