Alice Kay McNulty

–

Sandy, Utah

Our dear mother, Alice Kay McNulty, age 71, died on May 29, 2024, from pancreatic cancer.
Alice was born on August 31, 1952 at a military hospital in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to her parents Enid Bennett Riches and Earl Marvin Jacklin. Alice made many happy memories growing up in southern California. She graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1970 and began studying at Golden West Community College.
Alice married Jack Warren McNulty in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on July 8, 1972. They had four children while living in Anaheim, California. There were frequent family gatherings, camping trips, and fun days at parks and beaches. Alice worked as a school bus driver for many years there. In 1988, Jack and Alice moved their family to Visalia, California. They loved to take their family on the short drive to explore Sequoia National Park. Alice continued driving buses while pursuing her education. In 1995, Jack and Alice made their final move to their home in Sandy, Utah.
Alice earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Utah in 2000. She loved being a teacher with the Head Start program for over a decade. She was especially gifted at connecting with and teaching young children. Later, Alice became an enrollment councilor with Western Governors University. The years she spent encouraging prospective students and working with wonderful co-workers were truly rewarding to her.
Alice’s greatest joys in life were her four children and her 13 grandchildren. She was always ready to serve and go adventuring with her family. Grandma Alice always made time to snuggle up and share picture books with her grandkids. Jack and Alice taught their children to love nature, music, and good books. They also taught their children to live the two greatest commandments - to love God and love their neighbor. Alice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served faithfully in many capacities throughout her life. Some of her choicest opportunities to serve were with the primary children.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Enid and Earl, her brothers Boyd and Larry, and her loving husband, Jack (2007). She is survived by her children Scott (Marina) McNulty. Jill (Josh) Clegg, Julie (Per) McCord, and Alisa (Nate) Parry, as well as her 13 devoted grandchildren. Alice is also survived by her siblings Judy Johnson, Blaine Jacklin, Val Jacklin, and Bonnie Harding.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the chapel located at 1478 E. 8600 S. in Sandy, Utah. A viewing will precede the services from 10:00-10:45 AM.
We are deeply grateful to the many medical professionals and caring friends who helped Alice continue to make memories with her family, despite her illness. A heartfelt thank you to her wonderful hospice nurse, Jaime, who went above and beyond.
Internment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek, Utah.
