Alton Monte Poulson

–

Salt Lake City, UT

Heaven will forever shine brighter with the open-armed reception of Alton Monte Poulson.
A humble man's good deeds may not always receive recognition, but a lifetime of dedicated service to his wife, family, friends and even strangers will be Daddy's legacy. No greater commitment did he make than his complete devotion to living a Christ-like life in the service of our Heavenly Father He served as a Seminary Teacher, Bishop, Counselor, High Priest, and many more, plus 14 ½ years in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved seeing those around him blossom in the gospel and brought many back to it. There are countless lives that he touched by his caring and loving acceptance and never turned anyone away who was in need of love and care.
Monte was born and raised in Sugar House to Alton and Velma Poulson.
Married to the love of his life, Daddy met his beautiful wife of 63½ years, Carolyn Gray Poulson while working at Bryce Canyon. He loves her so much! He loved the questioning mind of little ones, taught so creatively how things worked, and always found 'better' ways to do everyday tasks.
Daddy's life was filled with the love of music. He sang every chance he got (and whistled when he was not singing). He began singing in high school in a quartet, performed beautifully with his sister, MarGene, and best shared this defining talent with the world in the Tabernacle choir!
His legacy includes his loving wife, Carolyn, 5 children Kathy (Lee) Baumann, Mike (Maria) Poulson, Dave (Tish) Poulson, Annie (Todd) Horton, Carrie (Henry) Tenifa. 27 Grandchildren, 38 Great-Grandchildren along with his sister Phyllis Sims, Brother Jim (Joyce) Poulson, and Brother-in-law Jack Halvorsen! Was greeted in Heaven by his parents, and sister MarGene.
