Amanda Self

Amanda Lyles Self, 44 of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026.

She was born on November 10, 1981, in West Columbia, South Carolina the cherished daughter of Robert “Richard” and Susan Elizabeth Lyles Self.

From a young age, she was involved with Girl Scouts, softball, 4H, horses, motorcycling and 4 wheeling on the mountains of Woodland Hills. She loved her horses, competed in various 4H activities. Fast Compact racing at Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City, throughout her young life.

She earned the Girl Scout Gold award; the highest honor earned in Girl Scouting. To celebrate this achievement the Girl Scout team visited several European countries.

As a teenager, she was known to be very industrious in projects to earn money.

She loved traveling, going on multiple trips to Hawaii, Bahamas, Myrtle Beach and Europe, to name a few.

Amanda attended schools in Spanish Fork, Utah and graduated in 2000 from Spanish Fork High School. She went on to become a certified vet tech and completed her education at Eagle Gate College.

Amanda leaves behind her parents Richard and Susan Self of Graham, NC. A son, Axl Rain Tolman, father of Axl, Cody Clair Tolman of Millcreek, UT and a brother, Robert “Robby” Richard Self II (Megan LeDoux)of Nokesville, VA, with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Amanda was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert Wesley and Bertha Jean McCormick Self and James Hughlon and Zita Victoria Moak Lyles.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, Murray, Utah.

A celebration of Amanda’s life will be held on October 24, 2026, at 2:00pm, Maple Canyon Ward, 220 South Woodland Hills Drive, Woodland Hills, UT, with a visitation to be held prior from 1:30pm to 2:00pm.
