Arvel Frank Larsen, our loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on November 14, 2022 after a hard-fought battle with several severe medical problems. Arvel’s final evening was spent with his wife Ruth and his sons, Kelly and Russell, reminiscing about the wonderful times they were able to spend together with family and friends.\n\nArvel was born May 6, 1938. He is the oldest of five sons born to Frank Jay and Hazel Eccles Larsen. Arvel grew up in South Salt Lake and graduated from Granite High School. He met his wife Ruth during an art class at the Trade Tech. They were married the next year in June of 1959. They have been blessed with two sons, Kelly and Russell.\n\nArvel enjoyed many hobbies and was always on the go with church service that included serving as Bishop, High Council member, or serving in the Boy Scouts as an enthusiastic leader. He loves sports activities such as ATV riding, shooting, boating, and photography. He put his whole heart into what ever he was doing. He loved to visit and share stories with friends and strangers; he was a true people person, and the favorite uncle of his many nieces, nephews, and siblings. Arvel was at his very best when in the company of his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. They truly brought out the best in him and are already missing him.\n\nHe enjoyed working in Family Search filling in missing information or correcting errors he found. This work included uploading pictures and memories to make sure that these were able to be remembered and enjoyed.\n\nArvel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Leany Larsen, and their two sons, Kelly and Russell and their families. Kelly (Peggy), Robyn, & Erik; Russell (Heide); Jennifer (Joseph) Imes; Belinda (Brigham) Gigi, Trixie, & Dottie Blackham; Kyle (Heather) Jack, Josie, & Jude Larsen.\n\nThe funeral services will be held at the West Jordan 57th Ward located at 7511 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah on Saturday, November 19th, 2022 at 10:00 am. A viewing will be held Friday, November 18th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, November 19th from 9:00 am to 9:45 am at the same location. \n\nWe have faith and know that Arvel has been greeted on the other side with a warm “Well done thou good and faithful servant”.
