“The Model A Ford Guy”Born February 10, 1941 to Wm. E. and Hazel Stone Parcell, Arvil grew up on the beautiful shores of Utah Lake. After graduating from Orem High School in 1959, he married Rosemary Wilkinson in the Salt Lake Temple in 1962. In 1966 Arvil was drafted into the U.S. Army, completing basic training in El Paso, Texas. He was then transferred to Europe, where Rosie joined him later in Kaiserslautern, Germany. While they were there, they traveled to see many European tourist sites such as Paris, Rome, Venice, etc. when they found the time. They cherish their many wonderful memories overseas. After serving his country for 2 years, Arvil and Rosie made their home in Murray, Utah, where they enjoyed fixing up their “antique” home and bringing it “back to life”. During this time, Arvil purchased his first Model A Ford, in a wonderful unrestored condition, from a relative for $90. It was the beginning of his love affair with Model A’s, which lasted until his retirement in 2006. During the years he restored many of his own vehicles from the ground up, as well as an estimated fifty vehicles for others, mostly Model A’s, which he worked on extensively in his shop over a period of 25 years. He was well respected by many others for his experience, expertise, and his willingness to share his knowledge. So, if you should spot a Model A going down the street or in a parade, chances are he may have had a hand in its restoration!Arvil is survived by his wife, Rosie and children, Toby (Sher), Tawny, Tom (Sherice) and Tim (Takyiwah), and 9 grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Gale, Don, and Norman (Janice). Our heartfelt thanks go to Hearts for Hospice, especially Joe, Conner, and Stephanie for their genuine compassion, care, support, and respect during Arvil’s final weeks.Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11 am at the Riverside 7th Ward chapel, 500 W Germania Ave (5100 S) in Murray, UT.
