Asinate Makoni was born in Fua’amotu, Tonga Island on February 23, 1939 to Moala Katokakala Lui and Tevita Hia Makoni. She is number 5 of 11 children. She is survived by her two younger brothers: Viliami and Nikola Makoni. Asinate loved entertaining and hanging out with families, relatives and friends. She also enjoyed listening to music, sewing and cooking. She loved and dedicated all of her life to her Wesleyan Church. Asinate has lived a fulfilled and happy life. She will be missed by many but her legacy will continue to live on.
