Astrid Lillian Larsen Bang Obituary (1919 - 2011)

Astrid Lillian Larsen Bang died peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 17, 2011 at the age of 92. Astrid was born on March 31, 1919 in Horten, Norway daughter of Sigurd and Hansine Berner Larsen. She came to the USA in 1950 with three small children to be with her husband Waldemar and to be sealed together for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. She had a strong testimony of the Savior and loved going to church and going to the Tabernacle Christmas Concert each year with her son. She was an example of great strength to her family and friends. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. She loved going for walks with her special needs daughter Vicky, who after her children left home became her purpose in life. She loved to travel and went to Norway several times to visit family. She loved her Norwegian heritage. Astrid is survived by her children Bjorn (Suzanne) Bang, Lasse (Genean) Bang, Toril (Lyle) Knight, Billings, Mt., Anna (Bill) Bunker, Vivian (Bill) Bullard, Las Vegas, Nev., and Vicky Bang and sister Lilleba (Per) Johansen, Boise, Id; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Astrid is preceded in death by her husband Waldemar Bang, daughter Barbara Bang and grandson Sean R. Knight and a sister Aase (Randolf) Gaarder. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care she received while living at Legacy House and also for the tender care she received from Hearts for Hospice. Viewing on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 5-7 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W South Jordan Pkwy (10600 S). Graveside Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 12:00 noon, Salt Lake City Cemetery (Grave located extreme northwest corner of cemetery-11th Ave. N St., east of fire station).
