Auxiliadora "Dora" Andrade Lish (friend and mother to all) returned to her Heavenly Father on December 18th 2016 at Alta Ridge Memory Care Center in Sandy Utah. She passed peacefully in her sleep with her daughter Leana at her side.
She was born in Pombal, Paraiba, Brazil to Antonio Domingos and Terezinha de Andrade on December 31, 1956. In 1982 she came to America for her best friend's wedding and extended her visit to stay and help another good friend, who was living in Pocatello, Idaho, with her children. It was during that time that she attended a New Year's Eve dance and met the love of her life, Douglas Lish. She and Doug were married in November, 1983, in the Idaho Falls temple, and moved to Salt Lake City in 1984.
Unable to have children of their own, Dora began searching for a way to adopt. Finally arrangements were made to adopt their first baby from Brazil. Dora traveled to Brazil and was actually in the room when little Tania Maria was born in July, 1989; however because of red tape it took about 7 months before they made it home. That only made her want more and in 1994, she again traveled to Brazil to bring home their second child, Leana who was born in April of 1994. It wasn't until 1999 that their third child Magna arrived. Magna, born March, 1986 was 13 years old when she became part of the family. She was a half- sister to Tania and arrangements were made for her to join them from Brazil. Their little family was now complete.
Dora loved her new life in America and wanted to share it with everyone back home…Consequently, during their married life Doug and Dora shared their home with 19 different Brazilians for extended periods of time. She was fun, unselfish, loving, caring and their home was always open…especially for Sunday dinners, she was a wonderful cook and It was not uncommon to have up to 20 guests for dinner.
Dora loved crafts of all sorts and was very talented with embroidery, quilting, scrapbooking, etc.
Once her youngest was in junior high, Dora went to work as a nutrition worker for the Jordan School District. She loved her job and interacted well with her co-workers and the children. The kids called her "Dora, the Explorer."
Survivors include her Husband: Douglas Lish, children: Magna Buhler (Cody), Tania Dalanhese, Leana Tomkinson (Christian), grandchildren: Samuel Buhler, Evalynn Tompkinson, Aviendha Tompkinson, Kaladin Tomkinson, mother: Terezinha Moura de Andrade, siblings: Antonio Carlos Moura de Andrade, Francisco de Assis Moura de Andrade, Rui de Moura Andrade, Santina Andrade Smith (David).
