“Our Sweet Little Angel Momma”Barbara Johnson Linford, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully in her sleep January 21, 2013 and is now happily reunited with her “sweetheart”, Newel. She was born September 5, 1923, in Oakland, California to Andrew Kenneth and Zella Archibald Johnson. She married Newel Hodges Linford on September 2, 1942 in the Logan Temple.Barbara was a person with patience, understanding, spiritual strength, a great sense of humor, a smile in heart and everyone she knew loved her and was a better person for having known her. She was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a chorister, counselor and teacher in Relief Society and a scribe for Newel’s patriarchal blessings. She was the silent force and the quiet strength that held her family together.Barbara is survived by her daughters, Barbara Jeanne (Michael) Alford, Louise (Jim) Padgett, Nora (Joe) Anderson, Patti (Bob) Cusick, Marilyn (Duane) Smith, Cathy (Nev) Linford; one son, John (Becky) Linford; sister Mardenne Nield, brother Kenneth Dee (Mary) Johnson, 22 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newel H. Linford, and her grandson, Kent L. Smith.Special thank you to Carrington Court Assisted Living and Millcreek Home & Hospice for their kindness, love and devotion.Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at LDS Country Crossing 10th Ward, 2750 West 11800 South, South Jordan Utah. Viewings will be Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, Utah, and on Friday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery.
