Barbara Malmstrom passed away peacefully the evening of Thursday, April 14, 2022. Born Barbara Jean Bonas on December 9, 1931 in Camden, NJ to George Bonas and Elizabeth (Shaw) Bonas, she was the second of three children. After the death of her mother, Barbara lived in an orphanage for nearly 4 years until her Father was remarried to Catherine Mitchell Cullen. She graduated high school and worked in the bookkeeping field. She married Herbert Bloomquist in 1952 and they had two daughters, Pamela and Denise. The couple eventually moved to Cottonwood Heights, Utah, and were divorced shortly thereafter. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for multiple door companies, including being partial owner in one. In 1983 she met and married Robert (Bob) Malmstrom, whom she says “taught her how to love.” They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They loved to travel and enjoyed bowling, as well as other hobbies. Barbara gave much care to Bob through his final years before he died in 2003. Barbara has been blessed all her life with good friends who have been a joy and comfort to her. She enjoyed exploring genealogy, attending the temple, crocheting and knitting, as well as beating her family handily at card games. Her greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Bob), step sister (Jaqueline), Sister-in-law (Irma), son-in-law (Michael), grandchild (Kristy) and great-grandchild (Colton). She is survived by her two brothers: Don and George (Marilee), two daughters: Pam (Sherman) and Denise, step-children: Gloria, Dean (Anick), Mel (Randy), Lynn (Sharon), Carl and Marianne, 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. \n\nFriends and family are invited to funeral services at The Church of Jesus Christ building, 1409 Shields Lane, South Jordan, UT.
