“Garlic King”\nBenjamin Michael Pilati left this life after 87 wonderful and happy years.\nHe was born April 17, 1922 in Murray, Utah to Guilio and Rosa Gussoni Pilati. He grew up raising vegetables on the family farm. He married his sweetheart, Vella Ann Horrocks, July 11, 1942, later solemnized in the Salt lake Temple. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage. \nBen enjoyed working and typically worked two or three jobs at one time to support his family. He retired in 1982 after 40 years of service at Kennecott copper. He was passionate about growing things especially garlic and would often refer to himself as the “Garlic King”.\nHe is survived by his wife, Vella; his sons, Leonard (Becky) and Lynn (Kathey); and one sister, Lillian Benvegnue. He has 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.\nBen possessed a vibrant personality which cheered everyone. He will be dearly missed by those remaining on earth and warmly embraced by those waiting on the other side.\nFuneral services will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Murray, Utah, on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family may gather for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Murray City Cemetery.
