“Always in our Hearts-Forever in our Memories”
A loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend, Bessie Walker, passed away March 5, 2006 in Salt Lake City. Bessie was born August 7, 1910 in Murray, UT, the daughter of Mads Miller and Trina Christensen, one of eight children.
It would be hard to find someone more kind and ambitious than Bessie. On several occasions, she painted the inside and outside of her house, climbing ladders to do so. Her last paint job was at age 80. She mowed her own lawn until age 88. Until she passed away, she was still pulling weeds (you could never find even one), trimming bushes, tending her rock garden, and planting flowers. When she was not working outside, she was working inside. People have marveled at her cleanliness and neatness. There is never anything out of place and never a dirty dish in the sink.
Bessie spent hours crocheting afghans, many of which she donated to the needy and gave away to family and friends. She won first place at the Murray Fair and the Utah State Fair at the age of 85. She also spent a lot of time preparing meals for the sick.
Bessie’s life centered around her family. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served many years in the Primary. She was a good friend, calling many people on the phone when they were ill or just to see how they were doing. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Bessie is survived by one daughter, Dolores; one son, Ned (Carolyn); three granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 10, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, Murray, UT. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT.
