Beth Player Nielsen Obituary (1922 - 2007)

Our beloved Sweetheart and Mother Beth Player Nielsen passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2007 after a courageous fight for life against bladder cancer and many other challenging health problems. She was born to Charles Leo and Blanche Player on September 27, 1922 in Bennion, Utah. She married her sweetheart Paul W. Nielsen 65 years ago in the Salt Lake Temple December 12, 1941. She was having her trousseau tea the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. Life long residents of South Jordan their home was blessed with 6 beautiful daughters Connie (Gene) Brown, Paulette (Phil) McCoy, Joan (Ray) Lloyd, Sherri (Dru) Steadman, Sheila (Kevin) Roberts and Carolyn (Val) Stirling who welcomed her through the veil. She met each health challenge with a resilience and grace that never ceased to amaze both family and health care workers. We will miss her example of courage, holding her soft hands, hearing her tell you how beautiful you are each time you walked through the door, calling each morning to hear her voice filled with encouragement and compassion for whatever life held that day. Paul will miss his companion in all things including traveling the world and each morning the Price is Right will never be the same without his Fritz to watch it with him. Beth will be missed by her 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. She is survived in life by her husband Paul, her sisters Elva Turpin, Joy Bateman, and Pat Vincent. Beth is preceded in death by her brothers Leo, Garnett, and Grant, granddaughter Marci, and daughter Cari. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 17, 2007, at the Jordan River 5th Ward, 11400 South 1570 West at 11:00 am. Friends and family may call Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) from 5-7 pm and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. When life is hard and skies are gray remember I am not far away. Smile and know it’s okay to cry for I will miss you too. Remember it is just a tiny time until we meet again.
