Betty Jean Stephens

1930 ~ 2014

Our beautiful, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Betty Jean Stephens, age 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on July 18, 2014.

Betty was born on January 19, 1930 in Salt Lake City to Henry E. Erickson and Ethel M. Erickson. She married her sweetheart Donald W. Stephens on July 31, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; children, Sherry (Richard) Blake, Jody (Steve Johnson); 9 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Dennis Johnson.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various church callings. She loved her family and having them around her. We'll never forget our great family, friends, and camp outings at Smith and Moorehouse.

She was famous for her orange rolls, lemon meringue pies and spaghetti. Everyone looked forward to getting her handmade crochet dish cloths. She will be especially remembered by her daughters for the countless hours upon hours she spent sewing dresses, formals and wedding dresses and making her daughters look and feel like princess's.

We express our thanks for the loving care for our mother provided by the staff at the Legacy House of Taylorsville and Aspire Home Health Care.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bennion LDS Chapel at 5775 South 2700 West. Friends and family may come to a viewing prior to the services from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
