North Ogden, UT
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on August 26, 2016, surrounded by her family in North Ogden, Utah. Although she will be greatly missed by those she left behind, we feel blessed to have many wonderful memories of our time with her. She touched the hearts of many through her devotion to family, her compassion and service in the community and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bea was born June 23, 1919, in Union, Utah, the third of five children of Heber J. and Jenny Hurler Burgon. She graduated from Jordan High School where she was active in student government and attended Brigham Young University. Prior to her marriage, Bea worked at Walker bank. Throughout her life, Bea was very active enjoying dancing, bowling, playing bridge, quilting, and painting. She married Clive Larson in the Salt Lake Temple in 1943. They began their married life in Panama where they had their first of three sons. They moved to New Orleans, where they raised their boys in a gospel oriented home with an emphasis on education. Bea and Clive were pioneers for the church in the south, and were instrumental in the church's growth in that area. In 1979, Bea was selected as 'Mother of the Year' for Louisiana, and went on to serve on the national board of American Mothers for a number of years.
Bea and Clive loved to travel and were fortunate to be able to do so extensively, visiting numerous countries throughout the world. After retirement, they moved to Utah, spending the winter months in Arizona near one of their sons. After being married almost 58 years Bea lost her sweetheart in December of 2011. She missed Clive dearly, but was able to live in her own home with help from her family until she passed away.
In addition to her family, Bea loved serving in her church and held a number of leadership positions. She served as president of the Primary, Young Women, and the Relief Society as well as Stake RS president. Bea and Clive served a mission in the "hills and hollers" of Kentucky, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Bea is survived by her three sons: Kerry (Julie), Craig (Carol), Thayne (C.A.); two sisters: Beth Booth and LaRae Hammond; 12 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 11:30 am at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Mortuary, 1007 W. So. Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, UT.
