Bonnie Mackay

–

South Jordan, Utah

Bonnie Jo Mackay, 63, passed away on October 1, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Bonnie was born on August 31, 1963 in Murray, Utah, to Floyd and Judy Childs. As a child, she enjoyed crafting, playing card games, and shopping with her mom. Bonnie graduated from Murray High School, where she was a member of the Boosters Drill Team. It was there that she met her soon-to-be husband, Kevin Mackay.

Bonnie attended Brigham Young University for a couple of years, where she enjoyed being a member of the ballroom dance team.

Bonnie and Kevin were married on August 5, 1983, in the Salt Lake Temple. Bonnie was a supportive wife and followed her husband to Georgia as he pursued his career with Delta Air Lines. Together, Bonnie and Kevin raised three wonderful sons: Jason (41), Eric (37), and Cody (31).

Bonnie loved her dog, Jasmine, scrapbooking, and watching Disney movies. Some of her favorites included The Aristocats, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. She enjoyed collecting Disney snow globes, figurines, and decorations. Bonnie also loved spending time in her flower garden and took great pride in her roses.

Perhaps what she loved collecting most, though, were memories. She found her greatest joy and pride in spending time with her family and being a grandmother. She had a special way of making every holiday and celebration feel magical, going all out with decorations, games, and activities that gave her grandchildren something to look forward to each year. St. Patrick’s Day was especially memorable, as the kids would eagerly search for the leprechaun she had arranged for them to catch. For each grandchild’s birthday, she would decorate with their individual interests in mind, making sure they felt seen and celebrated. She may not have been the best at taking pictures herself, but she was determined to capture those moments, often assigning the job to someone else so she could collect the photographs and turn them into personalized scrapbooks. In the end, the things she treasured most were not the figurines, snow globes, or decorations she collected, but the memories they helped create with the people she loved most.

Bonnie also loved traveling with her family and exploring new places. Some of her favorite destinations included Disneyland, the tulip fields in Amsterdam, Dollywood, and Yellowstone.

Bonnie was reunited with her loving Heavenly Father and her parents, Floyd and Judy Childs. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Mackay; her sons, Jason, Eric (Maddy), and Cody (Kelly); and her five grandchildren, Sophie, Jack, Will, Scout, and Colum. She is also survived by her brother, Kevin (Jeri), along with many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

We would like to thank everyone who has reached out, visited, brought meals, and shown their love and support for Bonnie and our family.
