Our beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend, Brett Lane Roath, Sr., known to many as “Bert”, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Murray, Utah to William E. and Melva Roath Sorensen.\n\nBrett was a man of his own words and loved to entertain us with his own spin on a Native language. He worked for Oakelberry Trucking and worked in construction his entire adult life. There was never a piece of equipment he could not run or operate. He also loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed life with his friends—and most of all he loved and enjoyed being with his family.\n\nBrett is survived by his children, Amanda (Dustyn) Samuelson, and Lane, Katie and Joe Roath. Also survived by his significant other, Janet Richards; mother, Melva (Chris) Sorensen; his only brother, Scott (Jeannie); sisters, Connie (Jerrel) Welch, Heidi (Jerry) Clegg; many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; and friends. Preceded in death by his father; son, Kelly; and grandparents.\n\nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street. Viewings will be held at the mortuary Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, please make donations to any Mountain America Credit Union under the name of Brett Lane Roath, Sr. to help offset funeral expenses.
