Brittany Remund

–

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah

Brittany Lynne Remund passed away peacefully on the 11th of February 2026, surrounded by family. Her 33 years of life were filled with hope, determination, and the desire to continue to thrive and bless others despite chronic illness and pain.

Brittany was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 19, 1992. She was raised in a joyful and faith-filled home amongst her four siblings, Heather, Matthew, Jennifer, and Elisa. Her childhood was filled with imagination, creativity, chaotic energy, and the magic that she created in the world around her. Her creative talents revealed themselves early on in life and blossomed in her musical talents, artwork, and stories.

As Brittany grew older, she continued to pursue creative and academic excellence. In high school, she was involved in a number of academic clubs, even participating in various competitions. She loved and excelled in science, math, and the arts. During her junior and senior years, she led the marching band as one of the drum majors and was able to take part in various other groups with her trumpet, including Allstate band and the New Mexico Territorial Brass Band. Outside of her musical endeavors, Brittany was also a dedicated student. Even with hospitalizations, missing school, and medical issues beginning in her junior year, Brittany graduated as the Salutatorian in her class.

Despite her challenges, Brittany did her best to continuously pursue learning and knowledge. While her health allowed, Brittany continued on with her postsecondary education at the University of New Mexico, pursuing a major in Aerospace Engineering, and later on with the Brigham Young University Pathways program.

In her pursuit of knowledge and joy, Brittany also sought to perfect her artistic skills. She created art in all mediums–drawing, watercolor, acrylics, resin, even Cheetos or cheese wax. Anything that she could get her hands on became part of her artistic expression. Along with her art, Brittany was an avid writer, reader, and musician. Although she would never publish, Brittany wrote entire book series featuring her characters and their adventures saving the world. She devoured every book, magazine, and article on World War II and crafted more than a dozen miniature aircraft replicas. Brittany also expressed herself through her piano and composition skills.

In both her earlier and later years, Brittany enjoyed riding her bike and hiking, as well as generally being in nature. In her youth, she eagerly participated in backpacking trips in the Sandia foothills and happily dragged her younger sister along on bike rides through the neighborhood. In her later years, she loved bike rides with her dad in the “chariot”, a trailer pulled behind her dad’s bike. She also enjoyed short hikes in the foothills with her mom.

Her favorite activity of all, however, was enjoying time in the basement with her “Brittanys”, the two beloved family Brittany-spaniels. She also loved spending time with her family, playing their nightly “Skip-bo” game and creating crafts with nieces and nephews.

Brittany used her artwork to bring joy to others. During her multitude of hospital stays, Brittany would create art to help those around her. In some cases, this looked like creating pictures with hidden images or creatures to put up in the pediatric unit of the hospital; in others, it looked like creating sock monkeys with tubes and other medical paraphernalia customized for individuals with chronic medical conditions. This led to an inspirational video (“God Will Lift Us Up”) and article from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, helping her to share her love of the Gospel and her faith in Jesus Christ, which was the centerpiece of her hope. This was an amazing way for Brittany to reach out to people all over the world. In addition to this service, she was a member of the “Book of Mormon Voices From the Dust” project team that recorded the audio used by the Church in its “Book of Mormon app”. She also spent hours with her dad searching old German and Swiss records for ancestors on “search and rescue” missions with her dad.

Brittany had many challenges and difficulties in her life, but she was comforted and encouraged by her faith in Christ and how His plan intertwined with her life. She did not fear death, and she knew that there was a plan to help those that would be left behind when she passed. Her faith was a strength to those around her as well, as they listened to her spiritual insights and watched how faith led her footsteps.

Brittany is survived by her parents, Brett and Kelly (Harman) Remund, and her siblings Heather (Marcus) Alvidrez, Matt (Cosette) Remund, Jenni (Casey) Hawkins, and Elli Remund. She also has 14 nieces and nephews whom she loves and adores, as well as her grandmother, Betty Harman, who was her downstairs apartment roomie. She also leaves her beloved dogs, Ollie and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her sister Susanna.

Brittany’s services will be held on Saturday, February 21st, at 11 am MST at the LDS church building at 9894 S. 2700 W., South Jordan, UT 84095. Her service will also be broadcast through Jenkins-Soffe. There will be a viewing on Friday, February 20, from 6-8 pm and before the funeral at 10 am at the church building at 9894 S. 2700 W., South Jordan, UT 84095.

We will forever be grateful for the many individuals and organizations who blessed Brittany in her care and in companionship over the past 17 years. Of special note are the many medical staff and friends from the University of New Mexico Hospital system as well as from Intermountain Medical Center and associated clinics. And she held very dearly the many friends and local church members who loved her, ministered to her, and spent time with her. We love you all!
