Burton Graves Davis Obituary (1926 - 2011)

Burton Graves Davis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and noble family patriarch passed away unexpectedly at his home where he had resided for over 50 years on April 7, 2011. Burton was born July 26, 1926 to Roy P and Mary Catherine Graves Davis in Lakeshore, UT. He was one of 13 children. He served honorably during World War II in the United States Navy. He was a master electrician and a lifelong member of L.U. 354 IBEW electrical workers union. He married Delvene Stones on October 7, 1950. They were eternal companions for 55 years, until Delvene preceded him in death on December 25, 2005. He was the proud father of 4 children; Neal Burton (Veronica), Debra (deceased), Sharon Kay Lovell (Mark), and Rebecca Lynne Delmoe. He is survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Allen Don Davis, and sisters Nelda Tolsma and Dorothea Weight. Burton was a person who loved to work with tools and loved to plant his vegetable garden each and every year. He stayed active and busy up until his death. Burton was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in numerous callings throughout his life including serving many years as counselor in the bishopric, as well as serving on the Stake High Council. However, his most important and rewarding calling in life was that of husband and father. He magnified his priesthood as an exemplary patriarch to his family. His dedication and love to his wife was unwavering. The innumerable family priesthood blessings and prayers offered on behalf of his children and grandchildren will never be forgotten. His strong and fervent testimony shared to his family in word and deed is an inspiration that will bless his family for many generations to come. His tremendous influence for good and humble spirit will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Jenkins Soffe Mortuary at 4760 South State Street in Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held on Monday evening April 11, 2011 from 7-8 pm and one hour prior to the funeral services at Jenkins Soffe Mortuary. Burial will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah. The family wishes to extend their thanks to neighbors, ward members, and friends that helped watch over Burton in the years after the death of Delvene. You have been a great comfort and blessing to us.
