Carl James Moelder passed away on January 31,2018 after a life of service and\r\ndedication to his country and his community. Carl was born on November 12, 1953 in Memphis, Tennessee.\r\n\r\nCarl's life can be summed up in two words: service and adventure. Carl began active duty with the US Navy shortly after graduating high school and served until 1981. He was deployed several times and stationed off the coast of Vietnam towards the end of the war. At one point he was an aircraft mechanic on the aircraft carrier the USS Kennedy. Several years after his Naval service Carl joined the Army Reserve (from around 1983 to 1987).\r\n\r\nAfter serving his country, Carl became certified as an EMT. Carl had a love and\r\ncompassion for all mankind. Carl worked as a medic on movie sets where he interacted with and cared for myriad famous actors and actresses. His expertise in his work as an EMT landed him a coveted job with Search and Rescue. After his time spent with Search and Rescue, Carl worked as a dedicated tech in the ER at St. Marks hospital in Salt Lake City, Ut.\r\n\r\nCarl craved adventure. He was the perfect boy scout and was always prepared with his first aid kit. Carl was an avid mountain biker, skier, hiker, backpacker, boater and all around skillful outdoors man. Carl had an incredible fondness for animals and loved his dogs as if they were his children.\r\n\r\nCarl had a love of good food and good conversation. He was kind and soft spoken. Carl loved good movies and was particularly fond of the TV series M.A.S.H. Carl could do a wicked impersonation of Elvis and loved the cartoon character, Snoopy. Carl enjoyed sharing his many passions with all he knew.\r\nCarl is survived by his brothers, Edwin Moelder, Michael Moelder; sisters, Betty\r\nKrupchek, Patricia Haas, Judy Moelder, Cecelia Moelder; nephews, nieces and many friends and acquaintances.\r\n\r\nWe love you always Carl! \r\n \r\nA Celebration of Life will be held for Carl Saturday, February 1Oth, 2018 from 1:00-4:00 pm, at the Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 4760 S. State Street Murray, Utah 84107.
