Our father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son, and friend, Chad Alan Smith joined his loved ones up in heaven on February 16th, 2021.

Chad was born January 25th, 1974 in Provo, Utah to Paul and Yvonne Smith. Chad grew up in Magna, Utah with a large family, the second of seven children. As a young boy, he enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together to see how they operated. This curious and tinker mentality had him fixing cars and household appliances. He was very handy man with a love for adventure. He earned his Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Chad was a hard worker with a lot of drive. He began working at a young age, starting as a paper boy working with his brother, then began mowing lawns, and then worked at Arctic Circle where he was promoted to manager at only 16 years old.

Chad graduated from Cyprus High School in 1992 where he was an active member of the stage crew. In high school, Chad met Dusty Adams and they were married shortly after graduation. Chad and Dusty had a beautiful daughter together. Later on, Chad met Suzanne Davis and they were married in January 2001. During their years together, they had four wonderful children. He later met Jeannie Osmond and moved to Indiana to build a life with her. They were planning to be married in May of 2021. Chad was not one to show emotions often, but they were obvious soulmates and he enjoyed two of the happiest years of his life with her.

Prior to his move to Indiana, Chad worked as an off-ice official for the ECHL and Utah Grizzlies hockey team for four years. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there and built long lasting friendships. Chad was self-taught in software engineering and programming and spent the majority of his life working in this industry. He worked for Lagoon Amusement Park for 16 years before moving to Indiana and starting a new job. Chad always provided well for his family and cared so much for ‘his people.’ One thing that truly stands out about Chad is that he always saw what people needed and took care of it. He was a caring soul that would drop anything to help or to have a good time.

When not working, Chad was planning outdoor activities. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Patriot Guard, riding in honor of fallen veterans. He loved babies and little kids. At any get together, there was a 90 percent chance that he would have a baby or toddler in his lap.

Chad was a great father who supported his kids in every way possible. He became a grandpa in 2020 and was so excited to earn that title. He truly enjoyed being a grandpa to Jeannie’s grandchildren as well. Chad is survived by his children: Jessica Smith, Anna (Makay) Groves, Davis Smith, Gregg Smith, and Natalie Smith; his granddaughter, Isla Groves; his fiancée: Jeannie Osmond, her two sons, Dallas (Becca) Hill and Dylan Petelle, and her grandchildren, Carson Hill and Aleia Hill; his father: Paul Smith; his siblings: Jason (Jayde) Smith, Steve (Marci) Smith, Paula (Dustin) Ridley, Katy (Chris) Orn, Lori Zesiger, and Debi (Nick) Stanley; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Smith and his grandparents.

Chad, you will be incredibly missed by many. We love you. Rest easy.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 25th from 6 PM to 8 PM. A viewing for close family and friends and services will be held on Friday, February 26th viewing from 11:30 am - 12:15 pm and service at 12:30 pm for close friends and family.
