Charmaine Josephine Fitzsimmons, lovingly known to many as Char, was a radiant beam of compassion and resilience, illuminating the lives of those fortunate enough to cross her path. Born on October 15, 1956, in Murray, Utah, Charmaine's spirited journey led her to many places before circling back to her birthplace, a testament to her enduring love for her roots. Throughout her life, she embodied the verse from the Doctrine and Covenants 58:4: "For after much tribulation come the blessings."\n\nAs a devoted Weather Observer for the aviation industry for 20 years, Charmaine's resilience was as constant as the north star, guiding her through a career that required precision, dedication, and an unyielding spirit. Her relentless pursuit of excellence took her from Meridian, Idaho to Mountain Home, Idaho; from Hilliard, Florida to Las Vegas, Nevada; and from Lancaster, California to Los Angeles, California; finally in Simi Valley, California, before returning to her birthplace, Murray, Utah. Her profession was a testament to her love for the sky and the world beyond, her eyes always turned upwards, her heart steadfastly set on the horizon.\n\nTo Charmaine, family was the essence of life, her love as expansive as the skies she studied. She is survived by her son Chad Monk, daughter Ashley Fitzsimmons, granddaughter Ariyah Monk, grandson Justice Monk, grandson Casey Mullins, granddaughter Tristyn Carges, brothers Robert and Kevin Kemp, and sister Karen Dumont. Each of them was a cherished star in the constellation of her life. She was preceded in death by her father John Kemp, mother Barbara King, and daughter Holly Carges. She will be remembered fondly for her loving nature, her strength, and her undeniable spirit that shone through even in the darkest storms. "Families can be together forever," she often said, echoing the words of the hymn from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.\n\nCharmaine's story does not end here, for her spirit continues to inspire and guide us. We invite you to share your cherished memories and photos of Charmaine on her memorial page, to keep her flame alive in our hearts.
