Cheryl Archibald

–

West Valley City, Utah

Cheryl Ann Archibald passed peacefully on August 9, 2026, of heart failure - a bitter irony for a woman whose heart never failed the ones she loved.

Cheryl’s nearly 74 years of life yielded a beautiful legacy of faith, love, and humor that now lives on in her surviving husband Dwight, children Bryan (Monica), Nicole (Kevin), Michael, and Sarah (Greg); and grandchildren: Chandler (Nikki), Annecy (Christian), Tanner, Maxwell, Elizabeth, Thomas, Abigail, Emerson, Bohéme, and Charlotte; and sister Diana Jones.

As the youngest of four children of Loren Kenneth Laws and Melba Mae Laws, Cheryl grew up in the Ogden, Utah area. But Cheryl would tell you her life really began the moment she met Dwight Hugh Archibald, the love of her life and her eternal companion. Cheryl and Dwight were a powerhouse couple. Their unconditional love for one another will be shared in family stories for generations.

Cheryl lived her dream as a loving and beloved mother of four children in just the order she desired from a young age: boy, girl, boy, girl. She and Dwight instilled in their children their beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Specifically they taught of resurrection and eternal families which is a belief that shines bright in these dark moments of grief.

Cheryl was one of a kind. She was witty, good humored, and had the ability to make friends anywhere she went. She loved her annual trips to Park City, Utah and any Disneyland trip she could manage. She was an avid collector of sentimental items and a holiday decoration enthusiast. Endlessly thoughtful, she loved scouring clearance sections for treasures to fill a chest of goodies for her grandchildren.

Cheryl was a natural family historian. She captured so many moments in photographs, then carefully chronicled them in volumes of scrapbooks. She could usually be found behind, but rarely in front, of the camera. Despite the lack of photos, the memory of her face, her smile, and her presence will remain emblazoned upon our memories forever.

We know she was welcomed to the other side by those she loved and lost including her parents, her brothers, her niece, her dear friends, and her many adored dogs.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life, love, and legacy will be held on her and Dwight’s 53rd wedding anniversary, August 14, 2026 at the Jordan North 4th Ward (4270 South Falcon Street, West Valley City, UT 84120). A public viewing will be held from 10 - 10:45 AM followed by a service beginning at 11 AM.

Interment will take place at the Farmington City Cemetery.
