Clarence Roy "Cub" Caputo
Born August 19, 1931 in Salt Lake City to Peter J. Caputo and Mary Lupo. Passed away October 6, 2026 in Holladay, UT.
Cub honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the US Army. After the war, he was a co-owner of Cub's Café and Drive-in, and also worked for 34 years as a diesel mechanic for IML Trucking until they closed in 1984. He then worked for 20 years as the owner of Cubco Overhead Doors of Salt Lake City until his retirement.
Cub met his wife while working at the café: "When she walked through the door in 1954, I knew in that very instant she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with". They were married in Elko, Nevada on March 9, 1957, and remained married until her passing on December 28, 2007. She was truly "his heart", and he "loved her more than life"
They were blessed with 3 sons: Michael (Amy), Mark (Signe), and Darin (Penny); also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Cub left this last sentiment: "Don't grieve for me, I am where I want to be. Once again by the side of my beautiful wife, with whom I had a full and wonderful life, and together we accomplished much. My life has been good - I couldn't have done any better, I couldn't have loved anyone more than I loved her, until the end of time."
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 4760 S. State St. in Murray, Utah. A viewing will take place from 10-10:45 prior to services at Jenkins-Soffe. Burial follows at Elysian Burial Gardens in Millcreek.
We would sincerely like to thank the staff at The Ridge at Cottonwood for their service and care for Cubby.
At his request, in lieu of flowers, "Take your sweetheart to Dinner".
