Clark Caldwell

–

Salt Lake City, Utah

Clark Caldwell lived by a simple rule: "I have never had a bad day in my life. I refuse to have one." True to his word—and his lifelong sense of humor—Clark passed away on August 30, 2026, after a wonderful life filled with family, faith, and fun. Always a bit of a jokester, Clark actually wrote his own obituary back in 2014, lightheartedly listing his date of death as April Fool’s Day.

Born in Salt Lake City on October 4, 1930, to Nancy May Davis and John Walker Caldwell, Clark grew up alongside his sister, Colleen Harrison. He attended South High School before heading to the University of Utah. A lifelong sports fan and active athlete, Clark loved the thrill of the game—though his real passion was time spent camping, fishing, and hunting with his family, friends, and relatives.
In 1950, Clark entered the U.S. Air Force. Just a few years later, in August 1954, he met the love of his life, Diane Silcox. They married in May 1955—a union later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple—and shared an incredible 71 years together. Throughout those seven decades, the two affectionately called each other "Honses."

Clark spent his early career as a purchasing agent for Utah Oil and American Oil. He later joined Hill Air Force Base, where he dedicated 25 years of service as a computer programmer, systems analyst, and branch chief before retiring.
A faithful, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Clark served quietly and tirelessly throughout his life. His service included roles as a ward clerk for two bishops, a stake athletic director, a stake finance clerk for 10 years, and a ward executive secretary for four bishops over 18 years.
Clark’s positive attitude and warmth left a mark on everyone he met. He often reminded those around him that he had lived a wonderful life—never having a bad day, though acknowledging with a smile that "some were better than others."

Clark is survived by his beloved "Honses," Diane; his children, Rhonda Rubadue (Carl), Ken Caldwell (Debbie), Cari Goslin (Brian), and Vicki Morgan (Dan); 14 grandchildren: Derek Rubadue (Kerstin), Tyler Rubadue Perry (Chloe Ropner), JaNae Vivian (Bobby), Ashley Nash (Christopher), Amber Schmidt (Charles), Justina Spencer, Aubrie Goslin, Walker Goslin, Skyler Morgan (Annie), Caity Morgan, Taite Morgan, Kenna Morgan, Ella Morgan, and Tegan Morgan; 10 great-grandchildren: Alex Rubadue, Max Rubadue, Logan Doonan, Bobby Vivian IV, Liliana Vivian, Lucia Vivian, Amelia Nash, Clark Nash, Eleanor Nash, and Braxton Morgan; as well as many cherished extended family members and friends.
