To watch this service, please click on the link below. \r\n\r\n Click HERE to view Funeral Services for Claudette Scott\r\n\r\nClaudette Merritt Scott, born August 1936 in Bedford, Wyoming to Norman Earl and Bessie Hale passed away 23 August 2021 at home in West Jordan, Utah. She was a proud descendant of the Hale orphans that entered the Salt Lake Valley in 1848. She graduated from Star Valley High and attended Steven Henager Business School in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married James Walter Scott July 5th, 1963 in the Logan Utah Temple and is the mother of five; a son and four daughters.\r\n\r\nClaudette lived in Venice, California and dearly loved the beach. A life long devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been baptized at eight in the Bedford canal by her father. She served several Stake Missions in So. California before a full time call to the Gulf States Mission in Houston, TX. She met Jim at a mission reunion where she discovered they had lived in the same apartment in Houston. Claudette and Jim served a second mission as the mission couple in the Japan Sendai Mission, fulfilling Claudette’s patriarchal blessing declaring she would proclaim the gospel in foreign lands.\r\n\r\nClaudette was an accomplished seamstress for kids’ clothing, crafts and quilts. She served in Church callings as a Primary teacher and secretary, in the YW as camp/activities director, in the Relief Society, and as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. She was a great genealogist fleshing out the stories of her ancestors’ lives along with names and dates. She published a history of the life of Albert Miles, yet another of her early Utah and Wyoming pioneers: “Miels and Miles”. Claudette belonged to and contributed to The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp Ft Union.\r\n\r\nClaudette is survived by husband of 58 years, children Kristine (Roger) Beck, Kelly Jo (Jay) Telladira, Karl (Toni) Scott, Kathryn (Joe) Herrick, and Kolene Lovell. They share eighteen grandchildren and 9 3/4 great grandchildren, a sister, JoAnn Merritt Hodges, and brothers Alonzo and JH Merritt (Kendra), sister-in-law Adene Scott, and brother-in-law Ken (Sue) Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers LaGrande and Gilman.\r\n\r\nA viewing will be held Sunday August 29 at 6-8 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway. Also Monday 9:30-10:30am at West Jordan Stake Center, 2666 W 7000 South, after which funeral services will begin at 11:00am. Interment at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E 4580 South, Millcreek, Utah.
