Connie Joyce Cundick Obituary (1935 - 2014)

Connie Joyce Cundick, 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 in Logan, Utah due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Born April 17, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Connie is the daughter of Richard Spencer Sipherd and Mary Louise Burningham and was raised in Ogden, Utah with her brother James Sipherd. Connie graduated from Ogden High School and soon thereafter was married to Morris Franklin Lee in the Salt Lake Temple. Their 19-year marriage resulted in five children, 23 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. As her children grew and began leaving the home, she took employment, most notably as an Office Assistant in the Treasury Department of the Williams Companies for 20 years. From there, she retired. Later in life, Connie met Ghil Cundick. They were married Aug. 1, 1991 and shared many wonderful years together up until her passing. Connie was the love of Ghil's life. Connie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings including serving a Mission at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City. She served on the committee over activities for the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George and as a hostess at the St. George Parade of Homes. She loved meeting people and was always friendly and kind. Connie was never judgmental and demonstrated a Christ like love for others throughout her life. Despite the many difficult challenges she faced on her mortal journey, she was always good natured and never critical of others. She endured well and remained faithful. Connie cherished time spent with family. She was a wonderful cook and holidays were always a big family event. Her family was her greatest joy and gathering together was a highlight of her life. Connie was very gifted in decorating. She found great joy and pride in a beautifully decorated home. She was often found shopping in search of wall décor, a new piece of furniture or a new accessory for her home. Sometime after retirement, Connie moved to St. George for health reasons. Her home in St. George was her haven from cold weather and for practicing her decorating skills. Visiting her there was a treat for her entire family. Connie was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Ghil Cundick, her children, Michael (Lora) Lee, Mark (Kim) Lee, Lori (Mike) Brown, Bryce (Suzanne) Lee, Lisa Aurich, 23 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, December 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Mortuary and before the funeral service, Saturday, December 27th from 10:00 to 10:45 am. Interment at Elysian Burial Gardens. A special thanks to the staff at Legacy House of Logan. We will forever be grateful to Mom's nurses—Danielle Burgess, Ginger Archibald, her Hospice nurse Ana Trapett and the many CNA's that assisted Mom and showed so much love and care. Thank you.
