Gladys Breinholt, 96, passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2017. Born Corry Gladys Brown on March 26, 1921 to William Elwell and Tena Isabelle Ashburn Brown in Taliaferro County, Georgia. An extraordinary woman with a deep, abiding love of the Savior, which was exemplified by her loving personality. Her influence has been felt around the world.\r\n\r\nAt 18, Gladys was baptized a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully throughout her life in many callings and auxiliaries. She met Don Verle Breinholt, Sr., as fellow missionaries in the LDS Southern States Mission, and reunited when she moved to Utah to attend BYU. Married Dec. 17, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Gladys and Verle served in the Roanoke Virginia LDS Mission (1986-1987) and supported many missionaries.\r\n\r\nGladys excelled in education, a spelling bee champion and valedictorian. Received a teaching certificate from University of Florida and taught school in Lake City, Florida. \r\n\r\nPeople were drawn to her quick wit, her willingness to share her talents and skills. Her life example and lessons will be passed on for generations.\r\n\r\nGladys and Verle lived for 69 years in the home they built together and shared with many others. They considered their greatest earthly accomplishment to be their loving posterity of 10 children, 53 grandchildren, and 140 great-grandchildren, their spouses and other adopted family.\r\n\r\nThe final family matriarch of her generation, Gladys is survived by: Don Verle Jr. (Freya); daughter-in-law Marsha (Robert, deceased); Richard (Susan); Lynn (Myrl); Wallace (Beth); Marilyn Thomsen (Richard); Joan Norton (Stan); Glen (Kerry); Susan Miller (Ray); and Keith (Dorothy); and many other extended family members.\r\n\r\nThe family wishes to express our sincerest gratitude to Elevation Hospice, caregivers and residents of Riverway Assisted Living, and other angels on earth for their loving care.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 at the Ridgedale Ward, 3401 S. 1100 E., SLC, Utah. Viewings will be held at the Ridgedale Ward Thursday, Sept. 28, from 6:30-8:30 pm, and Friday prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
