Corydon Stuart Bagley
1932-2023
Corydon Stuart Bagley (Cory), beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2023 at the age of 90. Cory received an outpouring of prayers, comfort, love and support from his beloved wife, family and friends during his last few days on earth. Born on May 14, 1932, in Murray, Utah to Charles Stuart and Gwendolyn Granger Bagley, he spent his youth in Cottonwood, and Salt Lake City, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Alamogordo, New Mexico. He graduated from Alamogordo High School. Cory spent several summers working on the Bagley Cattle Ranch in Callao, Utah. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served honorably in the Hawaiian Mission. He loved the people of Hawaii and often spoke fondly of his mission experience. He learned to speak the Hawaiian language and to play the ukulele. Upon returning from his mission, he attended Utah State University, where he met his beloved and eternal sweetheart, Gloria Randall Bagley. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology from Utah State University. Cory and Gloria were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 7, 1957. They went on to have 7 Children: Corydon, Darell, Joann, Susan, Lani, Matthew, and Charles. Cory and Gloria celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June of 2022. Cory supported his family with a long career in the engineering field, working for several large corporations, but never having to change employment; however, the work he loved the most was working in his own home shop where he had almost every tool imaginable and if the tool didn't exist, he would make it. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served willingly throughout his life and gave his all to whatever he was called to do. He and Gloria fulfilled their life-long desire to serve together as temple workers in the Jordan River Temple and as mission companions in the Florida Tallahassee Mission. They spent their entire mission serving the people of southern Alabama. A skilled craftsman in many trades, Cory gave of himself, his talent and his time to countless people over the years and always had an ingenious approach to getting the job done. Cory was a lifetime learner and avid reader who loved discussing in fine detail a wide range of subjects with anyone who would listen. His lifetime love of airplanes – building them, restoring them and flying them never faded. This endeavor provided many hours of joy in his life. Cory was loved by all because he never met anyone who wasn’t a friend. He always enjoyed visiting with everyone he met and never missed an opportunity to bear his testimony.
Corydon is survived by his beloved wife Gloria; their children, Corydon (Lisa), Darell (Donna), JoAnn (Craig) Myrick, Susan (Steve) Pugsley, Matthew (Maria), Charles (Lori); 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren his brothers, Henry (Bertelle) and Martin Bagley. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Gwen; his sisters Florence and Gwendolyn; and daughter Lani.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the LDS Chapel located on 2080 East 5165 South (Donelson) Lane, Holladay, Utah, 84117.
