1981 ~ 2019\r\n\r\nCourtney Marie Babcock was born June 7, 1981 to Gary and Christina Babcock and passed away January 16, 2019 from a pulmonary embolism. She was called back suddenly and unexpectedly to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. Courtney came into this world under difficult circumstances and left the same way. At the time of her passing she was surrounded with the love and compassion of both family and many friends. \r\n\r\nCourtney spent most of her life in Salt Lake except for a ten year time period when she was in Seattle, Washington. During her time in Seattle she developed many close and dear friendships that will continue forever. While in Seattle she attended Seattle University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science and Criminal Justice, and later worked for First Call Plus and then the Snohomish County Medical Examiner. While working for the medical examiner she saw many difficult things, but being the strong person that she was, she was perfect for that job, in giving peace to those who had passed and giving comfort to those left behind. \r\n\r\nEventually time and distance took its toll on Courtney and she returned home to Salt Lake where she began work for Judge John Baxter as a Court Clerk. Courtney had a strength within her that came through in so many ways. She had the biggest heart and was always concerned with how to help others and always loved the chance to help in any way possible. Her smile and could light up any room at any time and her laugh was so contagious it would make you laugh without knowing what was so funny. \r\nCourtney cherished the close relationship we had as a family, and especially with her partner in crime and little sister, Macy, who she shared many wonderful adventures with.\r\n\r\nCourtney leaves behind her mom and dad; her loving sister, Macy; her sweet puppy, Cashew; and also her second family, the Biehls. She is also survived by her aunt, Chris Gustavson; her aunt and uncle, Kathy and Peter Stenbakken; her aunt and uncle, James and Catherine Wheeler; many cousins; and her many family members in Sweden. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Lou and Frank Babcock; also her Morfar and Mormor Roland; Marie Gustavson; and her uncle, Steve Gustavson.\r\n\r\n We as a family want to thank the staff at IMC hospital in the ER and Shock Trauma ICU, especially Dr. Orme and her nurse, Danny. Also thank you to our Thoracic ICU family, especially Dr. Kent Jones, Dr. Goddard, Dr. Bergquist, and Scott Taylor for their heroic efforts in trying to save Courtney’s life.\r\n\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chevy Chase LDS Ward, 5235 S. Wesley Rd., Murray, with viewings at the church Wednesday, January 23, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens.\r\n\r\nOnline condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
