Craig Harold Jensen

–

Murray, UT

“Gone Fishing”

Our beloved dad and husband, Craig Harold Jensen, passed away early in the morning on October 17, 2018 after a prolonged illness. Born May 31, 1938 to Thelma Irene Leavitt and Harold Franklin Jensen, Craig grew up and spent his entire life in the Salt Lake and Ogden areas. He graduated from Olympus High School in 1956 and was sealed to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Linton, on January 22, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Craig began his lifelong career with Mountain Fuel and Questar shortly after graduating from high school. While he initially spent his days on the street with Mountain Fuel, he became a draftsman and ultimately found his career with the gas company working with pagers and designing mountain-top microwave transmitters. He loved anything to do with radio. He spent countless hours modeling and designing radio control aircraft. He was in the Air National Guard for several years. Craig would spend his summers and weekends camping and hiking in the mountains. One of his proudest moments was hiking 50 miles through the Uintas with his scouts. Craig spent countless hours fishing and was an especially good fly-fisherman. He also loved being at his treasured cabin in Oakley, Utah--his home away from home. A master constructor, he helped design and build this cabin with his family.
When he retired from his desk job with Questar in 1996, Craig and Tricia bought their dream motorhome and spent their retirement traveling around the western United States. He served as ward clerk for the Murray 24th Ward for a combined total of 20 years. He loved functioning in this calling and spent countless hours serving in this capacity. After a long illness, Craig received a new lease on life when he was the recipient of a kidney transplant. Looking on this bonus life as a gift, he spent the last decade and a half of his life enjoying his garden, being outdoors, and being with his family. He cherished his time spent with Tricia every week during the summer at the cabin.
Craig was well loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed. He spent every last minute of his life living to the fullest until his body could simply not keep up anymore.
Craig is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Dan (Shar), Anne Gibson (John), Emily Hall (Scott), Christian, and Janice. He is the grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Craig is preceded in death by his father, Harold; mother, Thelma; and sister, Linda. The family wishes to thank the staff and especially the CNAs at Rocky Mountain Care – Cottage on Vine for their devotion and support to Craig and Tricia over these last several months. We love you Dad.
