Darlene Watlington Hathorn died April 17, 2008 of causes incident to age.\n\nShe was born March 20, 1923 in Pocatello, Idaho to Philemon and Harriet Watlington. Her parents passed away when Darlene was young and she was lovingly raised by her brother, Alvin and his wife, Hazel.\n\nShe graduated from Pocatello High School in 1941 and moved to Salt Lake City to pursue a career in nursing. She graduated from Latter-day Saints Hospital School of Nursing on January 9, 1946. After graduation she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii to work. While there, she met her sweetheart, Billy Coleman Hathorn, and they were married October 28, 1947 in Aiea Oahu Hawaii. Eventually they settled in Salt Lake City where she worked at LDS Hospital until she retired in 1988.\n\nDarlene was such a loving and caring nurse, wife and especially mother and grandmother. She loved cooking and caring for her family. She loved watching the Utah Jazz and had a great sense of humor.\n\nShe leaves behind her two sons, Phil (Pam) of Kaysville and Scott (Kim) of Murray; her grandchildren, Chad (Lisa), Jeff (Emily), Justin (Natalie), Maegan (Quinn), Chelsea, Kayla, and Jacob; and her great-grandchildren, Nathan, Cleo, Kevin, Makenna, Morgan, and Forrest.\n\nPreceded in death by her parents; sister, Audrey; brother, Alvin; son, Kevin; husband; and grandson, Austin.\n\nWe will always remember and love her and strive to follow her example of selfless love and caring for others. \n\nFuneral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, where family and friends may attend her viewing Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment: Utah Veteran’s Memorial Park.
