David Hill

–

Riverton, Utah

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved David Chester Hill who graduated from this life on April 5, 2026, at the age of 80, at his home surrounded by family. David was a cherished spouse, parent, grandparent, great grandparent, sibling, and friend. He is remembered for his kindness, patience, generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering support to family and friends.

David was born to Hazel Edna Mathews and Chester C Hill in Logan, Utah in 1946. Over time, David was blessed by two other wonderful mothers: Maxine Taylor Bleak Hill and Virginia Poole Davis Hill. He was married to his sweetheart, Beverly Wilson, on August 21, 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple. Joyfully they created a family together having 5 wonderful children. Over the years the family has grown to include beloved spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. David and Bev and their growing family lived in Sugarhouse, Kearns, Union, Murray, and Riverton.

David graduated High School and went on to the University of Utah where he received a degree in Computer Science. In his youth he was a newspaper delivery boy. He served 6 years in the Utah National Guard. He worked as a custodian in a church house with his family, as a car mechanic, and as an employee of Z.C.M.I., where he stayed for 30 years. He started in maintenance at Z.C.M.I., and after obtaining his degree, he worked his way up to becoming the Systems and Data Processing Manager. He later continued his work with computers for Associated Foods, Greenbacks All a Dollar, and finished his career at Utah Retirement Systems.

David was a great putterer, fixing and building all kinds of things. He enjoyed watching sports and playing games with his kids and going on vacation with the family. Later he picked up an interest in birdwatching. Even in the end, little children were drawn to him and made him smile.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions in the church, including serving a mission to Norway, and serving with his favorite companion, his wife, on an Inner-city Service Mission, and a mission to California. He enjoyed serving, including time with the Boy Scouts and teaching youth classes, but his favorite calling was being a clerk.

He is survived by his wife, Bev, his children: Melissa (Alberto), Allison, Lincoln, Brandon (Jess), and Jason (Matt), his grandchildren: Sam, Sarah, Nathan, Gabi, Kaitlyn, Konnor, and Tayler, and his great grandchildren: Ezekiel, Jasper, Liliana, and Elijah. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmothers and brother Brent “Matt” Hill. He is survived by his brothers: Denny Bleak (Betty), J.D. Hill (Chris) and Allan Bleak, his sister in law: Mary Ann Hill, and his sisters: Marily Hill and Holly Baird (Mike). David was considered a brother and loved by the Wilson side of the family. His many nieces and nephews were also loved by him. Cherished friends enriched his life. All will forever hold his memory in their hearts. David's legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
