David Lynn Russell, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Murray, Utah, on December 28, 2024. He was born on August 27, 1947, in Murray to Herbert Nelson Russell and Leah Whitehead.
David met his beloved wife, Annette Granger, while attending Granger High School. They were married on January 6, 1967, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in September 1971. Together, they built a loving family and were blessed with five children: David Jr. (Sandra), Sharon (Brent) Belka, Alan (Cheri), Craig, and Peggy (Craig) Rackley. David was a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
David was known for his humor and zest for life. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. His green thumb was unmatched, and he delighted in sharing the fruits of his labor with others. David also loved traveling, especially to the ocean, and often spoke of returning to Oregon.
A man of many passions, David found joy in music and movies. He spent hours listening to his favorite songs—often singing along when he thought no one was listening—and amassed an impressive movie collection over the years. A devoted football fan, he rarely missed a game and cheered enthusiastically for the Denver Broncos.
David worked for the United States Postal Service for 32 years as a mail handler and was an active member of the party committee during his tenure. He cherished the friendships he made there and valued the connections he built throughout his life.
Funeral services will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, located at 4760 S. State Street in Murray, Utah, on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 am with viewing prior at 10:00 am. David touched countless lives with his kindness and humor and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
