Riverton, Utah
David Ashby Spencer, born June 11th 1950 in Murray UT. Son of Bill and Evva Spencer husband to Patti Anderson Spencer.
When Dave and Patti met in 1973 it was love at first sight. They were married four months later they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Those 50 years they were inseparable and made the perfect team. Dave spent his childhood growing up in Taylorsville riding horses, working on the farm thinning sugar beets and hauling hay. Spending his summers running strings of packhorses in Wyoming and running wild with the Bennett boys. He graduated from Grainger high school and attended Utah State University. Dave was drafted into the US army during the Vietnam War and was fortunate enough to be stationed in Germany as a military police officer. Dave left his mark all over the state as A Master Brick Mason, and foreman on projects from the salt palace to the delta center, to many schools and government buildings.
Dave was active in many clubs and committees over the years, as a young boy he showed a steer at the county fair every year. As an adult he served on the County fair parade committee with his family, as well as the days of 47 Parade, all horse parade, and Rodeo Committee for 30 years. He shared his love of horses and riding with his kids in the Riverton rough riders riding club.
Believe it or not… Dave truly enjoyed life. From hunting to roping, there wasn’t a time he didn’t have a horse, and later traded his Horse in for horsepower on his Harley. Going on many trips with his sweetheart Patti, and friends. In retirement he picked up golfing and worked at riverbend golf course. Went on Ice fishing trips. Had a strong love for camping at his favorite place, the Spencer family property and would go as much as they could, where an 8-hour poker session was not unheard of.
You can truly tell his love for his kids by how many hours spent with them on horseback, camping, shooting, ice fishing, golfing, and always being the cook at any family gathering. We all know his bloody Mary’s were second to none.
Patti’s favorite times with Dave were on the back of the Harley. Where he would reach back and gave her a little love pat on the leg that said it all.
Dave was a man amongst men.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Patti Spencer. Children Aubrey (Daren) Woodard, Garett (Amy) Spencer, Mikala Garner.
