Bud Hoffman Obituary (1941 - 2023)

Adelbert Ernest "Bud" Hoffman, a beloved father, supportive friend, and generous soul, passed away on August 11, 2023. Born in Lawrence, MA on November 12, 1941, Bud spent his life spreading warmth and laughter wherever he went. A man of wit and wisdom, he was known for his endless quips and jokes. Bud lived in various locations including Northborough, MA, Gettysburg, PA, Red Lion, PA, Clermont, FL, and finally found a home in South Jordan, UT. His career as an Operations Manager in the computer manufacturing industry was marked by diligence and dedication. However, Bud truly blossomed when he purchased Gettysburg Campground and went into business with his family. He cherished this time with his family and made many lifelong friends in the process. Bud often said, "it was the best job he never got paid for." In the words of Winston Churchill, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Bud embodied this spirit of giving. He opened his home and heart to numerous foster children, providing them with a brighter outlook on life. His love for animals was equally profound, as he adopted wild mustangs and numerous shelter dogs, even dedicating his retirement years to volunteering at a dog rescue facility. An enthusiast of the great outdoors, Bud loved fishing and hunting. He also had a passion for watching sports, often playfully commenting on the superiority of the New England teams. Thoughtful and kind, Bud's influence and love continue to live on through his sons. Bud's oldest son Michael Hoffman, and his wife, Sarah, and their 3 children live in Effort, PA. His youngest son, Daniel Hoffman, and his wife, Carissa, and their two children living in South Jordan, UT. Bud’ is also survived by his sister Kathleen “Kal” Nightingale lives in Andover, MA. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Adelbert and Mildred Hoffman, and his loving wife, Leslie Hoffman. His spirit, however, will continue to influence and inspire, reminding us of the power of generosity, the importance of family, and the joy of living life with a touch of wit.
