On January 19, 2026, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, DeMoin J. “Dee” Christensen, peacefully passed away at the age of 93 due to natural causes. He lived a long, full life marked by devotion to his family, faith, work, and community.
Dee was born at home on December 13, 1932, on an exceptionally cold winter day in Beaver Dam, Utah, to Horace and Blanche Johnson Christensen. The temperature that day reached a record-breaking –21 degrees, and the attending doctor arrived by horse-drawn sleigh—a story Dee loved to share throughout his life. He spent his early years growing up on the family farm in Cache Valley, where he learned the values of hard work, responsibility, and service that would guide him throughout his life.
The Christensen family later moved to Salt Lake City, where Dee attended Granite High School, graduating in 1952. On July 29, 1954, Dee married the love of his life, Colleen Louise Grant, in the Logan Temple. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love, loyalty, and partnership, lasting an extraordinary 70 years. Together they built a strong, joyful home and were blessed with five children, sharing countless adventures, traditions, and cherished memories.
Dee dedicated 42 years of service to Mountain Fuel Supply Company, where he was a respected and admired supervisor. Known fondly as “the gas man,” Dee took great pride in helping others and was always willing to assist neighbors with furnace troubles and household concerns. His quiet reliability and willingness to serve left a lasting impression on many.
Dee made a significant impact on the lives of countless youth through years of coaching baseball and football. He found great joy in encouraging young people, teaching teamwork, and celebrating their successes. In his personal time, Dee loved working in his yard and garden, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and traveling with his family to their cherished home on the Oregon Coast.
Dee was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently as a home teacher and lived his life as a humble, steady disciple of Jesus Christ. His faith was evident not only in his service but in the kindness, patience, and integrity he showed to all.
Dee is survived by his loving wife, Colleen, daughter Linda (Dale) Muir; sons Brent (Jana) Christensen, Mark Christensen, and John (Jamie) Christensen; daughter Jennifer Moyer; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy to him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: brothers Thayne and Rawland, and sisters Blanche and Joann.
Funeral services will be held on January 24, 2026, at noon, with a viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, located at 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah. Interment will follow at the Murray City Cemetery. 5490 S. Vine Street, Murray, Utah.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dee’s sweet caregivers, whose compassion, service, and love over the past four and a half years brought comfort and dignity to his last days.
