Diane Carol King was born Nov. 13, 1959 to Marlon John King and Virginia Ellen Bloomquist King. She was the third of four children, Trisha King Madsen (Robert Hyrum Madsen), Marlon Dale King (deceased), and Ryan Richard King, (Mary Alice Horrocks King). She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and loving neighbors. She is also survived by a cousin Dennis Kenny who took the best care of her, every day of her life.
She played baseball in her youth for the Murray Rec. Center. She had several hobbies that she enjoyed; painting ceramics, crocheting and knitting, and roadshows. At the age of 10 she was told that she'd be blind by the age of 30. So when she started working, she thought she might only be able to work for about 10 years. But she was blessed to work for 25 years. And though considered legally blind for years after that, she did retain some eyesight until she died at age 66.
She was the Sunday School Secretary in the Murray 7th Ward which later changed to the Meadows Ward. The new Sunday School president said they had served with her before and he wouldn't do it again without Sister King. So she again became the Sunday School Secretary.
Someone told her she was good with numbers so that became her lifetime career (operational banking functions). She worked for one bank for 14 years. After that as a temp, she worked at 4 different financial institutions. One of them being the Federal Reserve
.
She loved doing service. She would make little things for the widows in her home ward for Christmas and send them with a note that said, "From a Friend". One sister discovered who it was and called to her in Sacrament meeting, "Hey Friend."
Even though she didn't have children of her own, she loved all the children in the world and would pray for them every night in her prayers, along with prayers of protection for this great country we live in.
There is a story about this angel of ours associated with her youthful photo. She had several poses taken that day but on the one with the praying hands, there was an unexplainable Halo. Our parents rushed back to the photographer and asked for another picture. He refused saying it must have been a fluke, a hair on the lens. Thanks to modern technology, known as printers, our Angel can be remembered for ever. She truly was an angel to everyone who knew her.
