Diane Pearl Johnson Meibos was born on November 26, 1953 in Midvale, UT to Eva and Blaine Johnson and passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 10, 2017. She’s been reunited with her parents, whom she cherished dearly; but she leaves behind a husband, three children, and countless other friends and family members whose lives she enhanced throughout the years with her amazing intelligence, priceless wit, and undeniable presence wherever she went.\r\n\r\nShe loved bright colors and beautiful gardens. She was an avid watcher of nearly all sports, passionate about pets, comedy, and cinema. She took no flak from greedy developers. Sadly, the world lost a fabulous woman in the wee hours of Monday morning. Diane, better known as Pearl to her close friends and family, enjoyed fabulous food, travel, and her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She defended the rights of herself and others despite long odds against her. Pearl was a force of nature. Nothing could stop her once she set out to accomplish something. She and her husband, Ralph, raised three children while simultaneously receiving their degrees from the University of Utah. They started two successful businesses together. She even managed to throw together an amazing political campaign, despite having no previous experience, just because she believed in the principle.\r\n\r\nDespite her myriad of accomplishments, Pearl was the most proud of her children and grandchildren and was quick to say so to anyone who would listen. She was always there whenever her children (or anyone, for that matter) needed any kind of help; and she doted heavily on her seven grandchildren, which seemed to give her the most joy in the world. To them, she was “Mumps”, which always made her smile.\r\n\r\nNo matter what the circumstances, Pearl always adored good humor. Whenever the family gathered, there was raucous laughter, which never failed to strengthen her spirit. She was able to pass on her appreciation of sharp wit to her children, and we are proud to carry on her legacy.\r\nWhen asked, “Cake or Death?”, we know she meant Cake.\r\n\r\nWe love and miss you, Mommy.\r\n\r\nThere will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM and on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 3:00-4:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 beginning at 4:00 PM. All services will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State St., Murray, UT 84107. There will be no graveside service, as she wished to be cremated.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family asks well-wishers to make commemorative donations to either a pet rescue charity, such as No More Homeless Pets, or a wilderness charity, such as National Audubon Society or The Nature Conservancy.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family asks well-wishers to make commemorative donations to either a pet rescue charity, such as No More Homeless Pets, or a wilderness charity, such as National Audubon Society or The Nature Conservancy.
