Don Michael Smith

Mike, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away tragically in an accident on 5/1/2015 in Salt Lake City. Mike was born on 9/17/1942 in Cedar City, Utah, to Leonard J. Smith and Lola Gillespie Smith. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served many callings. He was the owner of Michael's Carpets. He loved his work and meeting people. Mike was a wonderful husband to his sweetheart, and best friend, Kay Stevens Smith. They were married on 12/19/1974, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four wonderful children: Kirsten Smith Blosch (Steve), Kelly Smith, Keene Smith, and Summer Smith Wulle (Wilden); Grandchildren: Gage, Keene Jr, Kaiya, and Violet. He was always joking and making things fun. He loved dancing, camping, supporting his grandkids activities, and spending time with his family. He loved to take his family to Zion and Navajo Lake. He was always willing to help anyone. He was known for his honey cold remedies. He would bring them by to anyone who was sick, along with a little teasing. He could cheer up anyone with his smile and sense of humor. He will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him. He is survived by his brother, Gary Smith (Sandra); wife; kids; and grandkids.
Mike's viewing will be Friday 5/8/15 from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State Street. His funeral will be Saturday, 5/9/15, at 11:00 a.m. at the Winder 1st Ward, 4551 S. 1200 E., with a viewing from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment: Elysian Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S.
