Donald Laney Jones, 89, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2019 surrounded by family. He was born on July 20, 1930 to parents Walter M. and Nellie A. Jones. Don grew up on a small family dairy farm in Murray, Utah. He went to Granite High School and graduated in 1948. Don joined the Army in March 1951 and served a 2-year tour of duty during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Ruth A. Jones, on July 12, 1951. He was a family man, and they had 3 children: Larry (Sherrie) Jones, Steven (Rocio Gonzalez) Jones, and Cheryl Holmstrom. He was a hard worker and had a 39-year long career with Hi-Land Dairy making ice cream and novelties. He eventually transferred to the dairy laboratory where he retired in 1992. \r\n\r\nDon loved to travel and go camping. They would go to their favorite places: Dillon, Montana or driving up the Oregon coast. He also loved cars and motorcycles. He would go on trips and adventures with his wife on the back of the motorcycle. He is finally “on the road again”. Don was the family handy man with strong hands and a sharp mind who had an answer to almost everything. He took pride in his home and yard. He always wanted to put his best effort into everything he did. He adopted his dog and best friend, Franklin, in 2017. He loved taking him for daily walks and throwing the ball.
