Our sweet dad Donald George Menlove returned to the loving arms and embrace of our mother. Born May 29, 1943, died March 29, 2023. He was proceeded in death by his wife the love of his life, J. Naedal Menlove,
Daughter LaDawn Escobar, Son David Menlove. His mother and father, siblings and many other friends and family. We are sure, as they all greeted him upon his return to heaven there was a joyous reunion. To see him hug our mother would have been the most precious moment in a lifetime.

Great Grandchildren: Waverly, Lilith, Axel, Barbie, Maika, Eden & Isla, Jaxon, Adeline, Sloane, Blakely, Zakia, Walker, Daisy, Clayton, Ivy, Rhett, and Owen.

He was born in Provo Utah to Cleon & Ida Menlove, he went to Provo High School and later received his associate degree in Drafting. Working at Geneva Steel most of his adult life, after they closed, he started his own business fixing appliances, he loved using his hands to fix virtually anything you put in front of him. He always took care of his family even if it meant making noodles from scratch and riding a bike to work.

His love of family was the most important part of his life, with fishing coming in a close second, he would fish by boat, land and even by Oculus. He loved to say, “here fishy, fishy, fishy” and he was sure they could hear him and were bound to jump in the boat or come swimming over to be caught and fried for dinner.

Whenever he worked on cars you could find him sitting in the engine talking to himself, which he would let you know he was doing so because “I need someone intelligent to talk to”.

He loved waking his children up in high school by singing the BYU fight song with his own lyrics of course “Rise and Shout, it’s time to get up and out, time to get up in the morning,” oh we hated it and loved it at the same time.

He LOVED BYU football, basketball and well anything that had anything to do with BYU. He loved the Jazz and would sit and talk to you about the game as if you weren’t there, so you knew what was happening, he did this with movies, shows and the news too (he just needed to make sure you knew what was happening).

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he met his long-time best friend Lamar on his mission in Minnesota and later married LaMar’s sister Naedal the love of his life. He loved his faith and prided himself on the many roles he held with the Church and his ability to bless his children when needed, prayed daily and sing his praises with his all-time favorite song “We Thank Thee oh God for A Prophet” As he got older he served a second mission working at the Bishop Store House for the church, he loved being able to help those in need and this was one small way he could.

His smile would light up a room with or without his teeth in and he took every opportunity to tell you he loved you, to show you he was there if you needed him and would even bring you treats just to let you know he was thinking of you. From donuts, to pies to bananas (which were his favorite breakfast ever.)

Don lived in a small elderly community for a while where he made best friends and learned that at any age you can always be the life of the party and if you showed people, you loved them; they would love you back. He was known for leaving Christmas cards on every apartment door even when they didn’t know him, and provided doggy bags next to his door just in case you needed one. He would often give gifts to his friends because he knew they needed them; he was a giver even if it meant he went without because giving yourself was more important than a fancy new pair of pants.

He loved watching his grandkids play sports and would attend as many games as possible. He went to many soccer, baseball, football, and dance recitals to support his littles and show them how much he loved them. He also loved sports and any chance to watch his grandkids play was a good day for him.

We could talk about dad for many pages and many hours because he was the kind of man with not just stories, but memories and we encourage anyone to leave a memory to share with us to keep in our hearts forever.

We would like to thank the Herriman Fire and EMS & Emergency Hospital who helped to transport and care for him in his time of need. Also, to Lone Peak Hospital and the two beautiful nurses who cared for him and stayed with him as he passed peacefully in their care.
