Donald Roy Rissinger

1933 ~ 2016
MURRAY, UTAH – Don was born to Roy Allen Rissinger and Margaret Laux in Tremont, PA on April 5, 1933 and died from natural causes on November 18, 2016. Don graduated from Tremont High School in 1950. He also had various jobs painting church steeples, tanning hides, and bartending. Don went into the Army in 1953 and retired in 1983 with 30 years of active duty at the rank of CW4. He also had duty in Arlington Cemetery with the Honor Guard. He loved military life.
He met Diane in Germany, and they were married for 45 years. Shortly after retiring Don ended up at the Salt Lake City Jail as a Jail Sergeant for 15 years and retired again.
Don leaves behind a loving wife, Diane; a son, Don; a daughter-in-law, A. Dawne; two grandsons, Daniel and Dalton; brother-in-law, Boyd; sister-in-law, Kristine (whom he liked to tease); nieces, Brooke and Breanne; nephew, Kyle, and their family members; Barbara, Pat and Marvin, and Dorothy, and all of their family members. A special thanks to extended family: Alex and Lez, Jason and Carla, Jake and Amber, and their family members.
Don was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
A viewing will be held for close family and friends on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah 84107. Following the viewing there will be a Celebration of Life. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah 84065. In lieu of flowers please donate to an animal shelter of your choice.
