Dora Roderick Ashby Obituary (1924 - 2009)

“Sweet Grandma” Dora Roderick Ashby, Passed October 15, 2009 peacefully surrounded by her family. Born April 12, 1924 in Salt Lake City, to Daniel and Margaret Roderick. Married Grant A. Ashby on April 18, 1937 in Morgan, Utah. Later solemnized in the SL Temple. Active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the SL Temple with her husband as a temple ordinance worker. She loved to work in her garden, was a meticulous housekeeper, and she adored and loved her grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to become a friend to a stranger and learn about them in minutes. She was an outstanding wife and capable of accomplishing many tasks. Survived by her husband, sons Grant G. (Jane), Rod (Jeanne), Gary (Patricia), 15 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the Canyon Rim 2nd Ward, 2980 S 3000 East, Salt Lake City, Utah, with a viewing on Monday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Murray, Utah, and on Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S 1700 East, Sandy, Utah.
