Dora Dean Nelson Snow passed away peacefully one day past her 93rd birthday. She was born in Ferron, Emery County, Utah on March 28, 1927 to Bryant Andrew Nelson and Gladys Braithwaite Nelson.

She grew up during the depression years and World War II on the family farm. As a family they had a large garden and orchard, chickens and other farm animals to care for and horses to ride. In the spring they would gather asparagus along the ditch banks of their fields.

She had a special group of friends growing up who traveled great distances to be together each summer until just a couple of years ago when age was taking its toll on all of them. They grew up swimming in the pond, hiking to Indian ruins, and dancing. She sang in a quartet as a young woman and several choirs through the years. She had a large circle of friends of all ages. Following High School she worked at the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot until the end of World War II. She had a great love for her Country.

She met Sherril Junior Snow early in 1945. They were married on a beautiful Sunday morning on October 14, 1945 in her parent’s living room. Over the next 15 years they were blessed with four children; Joyce, Stephen, Gary and Jeffrey. The family was sealed in the Manti Temple on October 14, 1966, a very special and sacred day for them. Sherril and Dora Dean farmed in Emery County in the early years and later moved to Salt Lake City for better employment. They built a home in East Millcreek in 1956 and Dora Dean has been a stalwart in the Rosecrest Ward since that time. She served in Primary and Relief Society as a teacher, counselor and President. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel and loved her Savior. She loved to crochet and made baby blankets for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will cherish all that she has done for her family.

She loved her winters in Arizona for the past 22 years. She had a special group of friends there and looked forward to the arrival each fall of the “Panguitch” group. She loved to play games, Sunday dinners and Family Home evening with Jeff’s family. She especially loved that she was able to be in Yuma with his family and watch her grandchildren grow up. She was a member of the Del Oro Branch in Yuma.

Dora Dean is survived by Joyce (Owen Howell), Stephen (Jane) Snow, Gary Snow, Jeffrey (Tina) Snow; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Sherril; her parents; her sisters, LaRue Petitti and Glenna Nelson; her brothers, Glade Nelson and Joseph Nelson; and great grandson, Edward Moffitt. The family would like to express their appreciation to Whisper Cove Care Center for their kindness to her in her last days. She is deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
