West Jordan, Utah
Dorothy Jean Tipton Williams of West Jordan, Utah passed away, surrounded by family, on December 23, 2022. She was born on August 25, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to Earl and Mildred (Nielsen) Tipton. The oldest of 4 daughters, she attended Ogden High and later took technical courses at Weber State University. As a teen, she also worked very hard to be able to gain an education in music, learning both the violin and piano.
Dorothy married Ben Williams (later divorced) and settled in Granger, Utah (now West Valley.) While raising her 4 children, she built a successful career in electronics inspection during the day and taught piano in the evenings. She took much joy in her family, accomplished much to be proud of in her technology career, and found great satisfaction teaching and caring for her many students over the years.
She was an example of faith and service in her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and in every other area of her life. She found ways to serve others everywhere, including these last years while in assisted living where she befriended and looked out for many others around her.
Dorothy sang for many years with the Jay Welch Chorale and joined a special Lex de Azevedo production that performed in Jerusalem in 1999. She was adventurous and traveled the world over with family, friends and her choir. She enjoyed many regular activities with her close friends over the years.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Dale Williams, Bruce (Michelle) Williams and Becky (Ken) Ivory; sisters Delores (Dellis) Hatch and Darlene (Reed) Satterthwaite; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Jeffery Williams, sister Deanna Tipton and her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 7th at 10:00 a.m., with a viewing the evening of the 6th from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and one hour before the funeral. Both will be held at the Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home at 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy (10600 So.), South Jordan, Utah 84095. Interment will be at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch in Ogden, Utah.
