“Gone Home”Doyle Garrett Turner born August 7, 1931 at Turnerville, Wyoming to Marven and Nellee Ramona Garrett Turner. He was the oldest of four children. He married his sweetheart, Velma Vela Meikle, in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 4, 1952. He served in the US Army where he drove tanks and was a tank commander. He attended Idaho State University.Doyle was an avid hunter and fisherman. He worked in a family sawmill, farmed, and worked for the Forest Service. He then completed his career as a postal worker. He was an active member of the LDS Church. His numerous hobbies included: model airplanes, woodworking and painting. Survived by his children: Connie Sue Darnell (Bob) of Mesa, AZ, Rickey Turner (Danette) of Mesa, AZ, DaLane M. Turner (Velma) of Stansbury Park, UT, Bryan M. Turner (Mari) of Mesa AZ, and Patty A. Washburn (Roger) of Bluffdale, UT. Also survived by 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his sister, Darleen Holt (Ralph); and brother, Kenneth Turner (Sandy). Preceded in death by his sweetheart, Velma; parents; and brother, Joe.The family would like to thank Harmony Home Health and Hospice of Tooele for their fine care.A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Mortuary, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So) from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, September 3, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Murray, 4760 So. State Street, and a viewing will be held at Murray from \n2:00-2:45 p.m. Burial will be at the Bedford, Wyoming Cemetery on Saturday, September 4th at 11:00 a.m.
