“Family First”Duane E. Thompson, 80, slipped peacefully away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at home. Born in Mt. View, Wyo to Alvin C. and Dorothy Thompson. Served in the U.S. Navy 3 ½ years during the Korean Conflict. Married Marjorie Gregory in 1949; later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was a friend to all and served anyone that needed help. His family always came first. He looked forward to “hair day” each week, where he could spend time with his family. He worked hard and he played hard. “He was a builder.”Survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; four daughters, Evelyn Franks (Cy), Annette Childs (Rick), Christine Stevenson (Brent), Katie Goodrich (Steve); ten grandchildren; and two sisters, Glenna Landes and Lola Nichols (Darrell).“We love you dad and will miss you until we meet again."Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray Belview Ward, 300 East 6300 So. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., and on Monday at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
