Jacklin and Edna A. Fitt on April 12, 1920. He was a cute little blond tyke with curiosity to spare. From his father, he learned to be a handyman and a great fisherman. From his mother, he developed faith in God and a love of reading. He graduated from Salt Lake East High School where he earned a little money working in the school book store, then landed a job at Salt Lake Hardware and earned good money during the Depression. He was just a young man when the call to World War II came. In the US Army, he was trained in radar, a new technology, and quickly shipped out where he served our country throughout Europe, until the end of the war. He then studied electrical engineering at the University of Utah and found his eternal sweetheart, Enid Riches, marrying her in the Salt Lake Temple. They had one child and one on the way when he was reactivated in the National Guard to serve in the Korean War. After his military release he continued his education at the University of Utah, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Earl and his growing family moved to California where he worked in the Aerospace industry for companies like Northrop and Hughes Aircraft. Earl and Enid raised 7 children, and were blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Earl had many interests and passions, like hiking, camping, fishing, rock hounding, reading, and putting on theatrical productions, but what brought him the most joy were family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served in many church callings, such as Stake YM president, high counselor, bishopric counselor, etc. After he retired, he and Enid found things to do together, like Spanish Class and Clown College. They also served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Anaheim, CA. A desire to return to their roots in Utah, landed them in Sandy, where they have loved living and serving friends, neighbors, and family for 30 years. Enid preceded him in death 9 years ago, and we know he is overjoyed to be with her again. Also preceding him in death is his son Boyd (Janet), and his son Larry (Coleen). Surviving his passing are children: Judith (Dave-deceased), Alice (Jack-deceased), Blaine (DeeAnn), Val (Sherri), and Bonnie (Robert), as well as the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren he adored. \r\n\r\nFriends and family are invited to celebrate Earl’s life on Saturday, July 17th at a viewing from 9:30-10:45 am at the Canyon View Stake Center located at 9119 S. 1300 E., Sandy, Utah. He will be interred at Elysian Gardens Cemetery located at 1075 E. 4580 S. on Monday, July 19th at 10am. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, Earl would be pleased if you donate to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary or Humanitarian funds, or support your favorite way of helping to care for the beautiful nature that surrounds us.
